Dick Costello On Life Lessons: Improv and Trust the Present

Dick Costello is the CEO of Twitter. He did a commencement speech at the University of Michigan a few years ago.

In his speech, he reveals his philosophy. He talks about two very important lessons, both of which are related to his short career as a stand-up comedian:

1.) Make bigger choices. In improv, make sure your scenes are big. Be the man in space who is flying a spaceship without any lessons or experience flying. You have more opportunity in big roles. Possibilities open up.

2.) Stay focused on the present. The past catches up with the present. A string of build ups, of past events, equal your current present. There's no exact equation, but do what you love with bold choices and it will add up.
