If You Live In The Bay Area Or Love The San Francisco Giants Here Is How Pablo Sandoval Got His Nickname As The Kung Fu Pand

Pablo Sandoval got his nickname, The Kung Fu Panda, from Barry Zito. He earned this nickname when he first joined the Giants organization as a rookie and young player from Venezuela. The Giants had him catch for Barry Zito during practice. Zito always got a kick out of Pablo's physical appearance. He was very round but also extremely athletic. He somewhat reminded Barry Zito of panda. At this time, the movie Kung Fu Panda was also just being released in theatres. Zito put the two together and gave Pablo the nickname, "Kung Fu Panda."
